The opening ceremony of the exhibition that presents the works of the scholarship winners awarded in 2019 at the 30-year old László Moholy-Nagy Design Scholarship Competition run by the Hungarian Design Council was held at 16:00 on Wednesday, 4 November.

Held online due to the pandemic situation, the festive opening presented, among others, the eight young designers and design theoreticians who participated in last year's programme. During the six-month scholarship, the applicants implemented their professional programmes independently and in collaboration with manufacturers.

Scholarship winners in 2019:

Demeter Fogarasi (Breeze Chair – Biocomposite furniture)

Kitti Mayer (The Design Center – The system of Hungarian design institutions between 1975 and 1991)

Zsófia Lévai (Romp)

Júlia Oravecz (Living – Design and social innovation for liveable and affordable micro-flats)

Szalai Veronika (Cube 2.0 – Toy with real and virtual patterns)

Apol Temesi (Rawfiction – Geo tile product family)

Lili Veres-Veszprémi (Nesting)

Fruzsina Zalavári (Line material – Fashion jewellery in the language of porcelain)

At the opening ceremony, President of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and of the Hungarian Design Council Gyula Pomázi and Chair of the Scholarship Board and Director of the Art School of Buda Zsuzsa Lázár delivered speeches.

The works of the scholarship winners are available for the general audience for viewing between 5 and 25 November 2020 in Zipernowsky Stúdió during opening hours:

Tuesday to Friday: between 12:30 and 18:30

On Saturday and Sunday: between 10:00 and 16:00
