2020 marks the fourth year that the Győr Design Week cultural festival has been held between 8 and 18 October.
The series of events in Győr is curated by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, and organised by the Győr-based Terasz Group Association.
The purpose of Győr Design Week is to bring together the designers living and working in the city and to present their works during the DESIGN WEEK, all with an educational and attitude-forming intention.
THIS IS MY STUDIO = The cultural festival Design Week assumes a crucial role in raising awareness of the social and economic role that Hungarian design and the creative industry play, and intends to shed light to the fact that a design object does not purely convey the professional sensitivity of its designer but the appearance of a given product is also shaped by major economic considerations on customers’ and manufacturers’ side.
By way of the call for applications issued by Győr Design Week, four Győr-based designers have been given an opportunity this year to show their outstanding works and professional commitment through a filmed interview. The short films produced about them let viewers experience the potential of design and gain an insight into the creative industry operating in Győr.
Creators showcased in Győr Design Week 2020:

With respect to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the programmes will be implemented in the virtual space this year; likewise, the video materials of Budapest Design Week will be presented outdoors on a screen set up in the yard of Apátúrház in Győr, including the films of partner events, such as the roundtable discussion ”design DIALOG” produced by the Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency to present the participants of the examples of creative industry cooperation in place in Győr this year.
