HUNGARIAN DESIGN AWARD 2017
Following a tradition, an award ceremony will be held also this year to present the best of last year in the Hungarian design scene. The grant that has represented the most prestigious recognition in the profession for almost 40 years, along with the annual award announced by the Minister of National Economy, primarily aims to call market actors’ attention to the competitive potential offered by the creative industry, and to present the outstanding achievements of national innovation to a broader audience. As the notion of design keeps changing and is gathers complexity, the event offers a comprehensive overview of the trends representing the present and projecting the future of the design scene. Similarly to the previous years, the panel awarded products that represent a high added design value, are innovative, competitive, and meet international expectations, in addition to becoming an indispensable part of our everyday environment.
DESIGN MANAGEMENT AWARD 2017
The strategic application of design today is proved to increase competitiveness and is regarded by market actors as a profitable investment. The Hungarian Design Council founded the Design Management Award as a means to recognise the organisations that set an example by using the inventory of design and design-minded thinking, which has become an integral part of their operations also at the level of decision-making processes. This recognition may motivate organisations and institutions by showcasing good practices, while offering an exciting glimpse into the secrets of corporate success to those interested. In addition to the four awarded companies, four other organisations that have received certificates of recognition are also presented at the exhibition.

Why have companies attached increased importance to design thinking lately? What role could a designer play in the development of business solutions? What is service design, and in what fields can it be applied? The conference offers presentations and case studies to reveal the notion, theoretical background and areas of practical application of service design.
What happens if socially sensitive designers meet autism? The conceptual bag collection from Autistic Art and Müskinn cooperation has been inspired by the everyday life of people living with autism in their specific homes, and their special systems. The collection is being presented in an exhibition and a pop up store.
The Cellux Group has pursued design, and has organised workshops ondesign methodology and creative sessions since 2006. During Budapest Design Week, little ones and adults visiting the studio may peek into the everyday work of the group, while the audience is welcome to participate in thematic programmes on two Sundays.
Ergonomic design and environmentally conscious approach are in focus of the exhibition and fashion show by the students of Industrial Product Design Engineering at Óbuda University. Function, form and technology are in the center of communicative beginnings. Two events, several topics and inspiring solutions!
Synthetic crystals created under laboratory conditions are part of our daily lives. Their materials and structures are almost the same with tha natural ones – this has inspired jewelry designer Krisztián Ádám when creating his latest collection, Crystallized.

Within the framework of a series connected to the 12.madeinhungary+5.MeeD Design Without Borders exhibition, this exhibition presents works by Signe Hytte and Kristina Kjær, two Danish designers, Daniella Kóos, this year’s Design Without Borders prize-winner, interior designer Zsófia Kókai, and textile designer Zsófia Zámori. Opening speech will be delivered by Zsófia Csomay architect.
EJTech is an art&tech lab who’s work focuses on the exploration of a new materiality, experimental interaction and techno-spiritualism. Cuatro Tiempos is an aesthetic analysis on the perception of time in 4 compositions. Kristi Kuusk’s presentation introduces new perspectives about textile futures. Az Ékszerek Éjszakája Budapest szervezői 2018-ban ismét több, kisebb kiállításból álló sorozatot terveznek a már bevált központi kiállítás megtartásával. A szervezők (Dés-Kertész Dóra, Huber Kinga, Kecskés Orsolya, Kerékgyártó Szilvia, Stomfai Krisztina, Vékony Fanni) maguk is mind aktív ékszertervező művészek, a FISE (Fiatal Iparművészek Stúdiója Egyesület) tagjai.
Designers step sometimes on a new road, instead of continuing their characteristic approach. FISE’s new exhibition will focus on these new paths, presenting new items, by well-known Hungarian designers.

What is fashion illustration, fashion drawing, fashion graphics? Why do fashion designers prepare fashion illustrations? And how can they be exhibited?
Cool finnish designers will show their products and artworks at Bartók Béla Boulevard – study or buy them in this pop-up store. Gallerys and shops at Bartók Béla street will also create a special installation made of recycling designed things, in collaboration with great artists.
